The aim of my project is to engineer the phononic density of states in the environment of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). Decoupling QDs from phonon modes promises to reduce phonon-related dephasing and electron spin decay. On the other hand, coherent control of phonon modes and coupling to the QD can enable optomechanical phenomena such as sideband cooling or optomechanically induced transparency.
